Is there a special bond between a father and his child?
A bond so strong that nothing can truly separate them?
Not even years of being apart?
Or miles upon miles of land and sea?

I know of such a child...
whoose dad left her many years ago.
She has no memory of every seeing him face to face...
Yet she misses him so.

She has faith in him,
and is willing to forgive him,
for leaving her when she was just a babe.

She does not truly know this man,
who she has been told is her dad.
But deep within her heart she longs for him.
She longs for his love and care and affection.
She longs for his acceptance.
She longs for a father.

What makes a child miss someone,
she never truly had?
Or long for someone,
she never truly knew?

Is there an invisible bond...
that holds the two together...?

Over one and a half decades has passed,
yet the child still wants her father.
Now more than ever.

Is it just, or really, a special bond?
Or rather something much deeper?
Something that extends past race, colour, religion and ethnicity,
and to the very human nature and neccessities themselves?

Does this child, long for a father?
Or rather does she need a father's love?
The sort of love that only a father can give.
The sort of love that she truly cannot live without.

She, like us all, needs that love in order to move forward.
She needs a father's love.
The love that her father or a father can give.
The love that God can give.
The love that she needs so dearly.
The love that she truly cannot live without.
The love that each of us needs no matter what,,,

And without it, shall never truly reach our full potential,
and discover who we really are.
This is a poem i wrote some time ago with my own father in mind. i think it's safe to say the poem is self explanitory.
The last two lines doesn't mean it's hopeless for anyone who's biological, earthly father forsakes them. Notice in the previous stanza i said that we each need "a father's love" not "our". that love does not have to come from our biological father. it can come from a father-figure in our lives or God Himself. Point being it is not hopeless.
Their is hope....whether we realize it or not. Never give up. You are not alone. :-)
